Art, history, and traditions · Val di Sole
Painted sundials, ancient crafts, theater, thousand-year-old churches. In Dimaro Folgarida, culture isn't in museums: it's on the streets, in the valleys, in the villages.
01 · An open-air museum
More than 50 artistic sundials decorate the buildings along the streets of the small villages of Monclassico and Presson, among the most precious artistic heritages of the Val di Sole. Here, science and art meet to give life to an ambitious and unusual idea, firmly rooted in a thousand-year-old tradition: embellishing buildings and squares with solar decorations of extraordinary beauty.
Monclassico sundialsIn Monclassico and Presson, the slow movement of shadows silently marks the passage of time. An experience best enjoyed at a leisurely pace, following the alleys and allowing yourself to be amazed by each new painted facade.
02 · Culture rhymes with nature
The Meledrio Valley connects Dimaro and Folgarida, and it holds treasures of great historical, cultural, and naturalistic value. The Meledrio Valley Ecomuseum is an open-air museum along the trail that leads from the town of Dimaro through the forest toward Folgarida. The Via degli Imperatori (Emperors' Way) is a year-round trail that recounts the history and traditions of the Meledrio Valley. Along the way, you can discover the Venetian Sawmill, the ancient Forge, and the Calcara, a historic lime kiln. During the summer, the Dimaro-Folgarida Consortium, in collaboration with the Meledrio Valley Ecomuseum, organizes guided tours to see these ancient buildings in operation and learn about the crafts of the past.
03 Culture meets entertainment
The Teatro Comunale di Dimaro hosts concerts, plays, and shows year-round. With a seating capacity of over 300 and a modern, inviting design, it can host important events thanks to a fully equipped stage and a hall with perfect acoustic comfort.
In Folgarida, the Cinema at the “Alla Sosta dell'Imperatore” Congress Center offers conference spaces with modern technology and Alpine hospitality.
04 · A bell tower for every village
Each hamlet of Dimaro Folgarida has a stunning church that defines the town: small architectural gems that tell the story of centuries of Alpine history and devotion. From the church in Dimaro to the bell towers in Carciato, Folgarida, Monclassico, and Presson, each place of worship has its own personality and history.
