Consumer Cooperatives in Trentino have been around for a long time: the first Famiglia Cooperativa supermarket was founded in the Giudicarie region more than 130 years ago. At that time, life in Trentino was difficult, with people living in poverty, isolated from the big cities. New solutions were needed to deal with the crisis. This gave way to Don Guetti's vision: to unite his fellow villagers and make them associates, so that they could buy goods together and, by doing so, save money.
This first Cooperative quickly fuelled the birth of many others throughout Trentino, such as in Val di Sole where the Famiglia Cooperativa Malè passionately manages several shops, including the one in Dimaro.
